Instructions

    • 1

Buy some cleaner designed just for hardwood floors from a home supply store. Apply it to the wet stain with a rag (reference 1).

    • 2

Mix water and vinegar together and apply it to the wet stain with a rag.

    • 3

Dry the area completely after you have applied the two solutions.

    • 4

Rub the stain softly with sandpaper until it's gone. Be patient. It might seem easy to speed up the sanding in order to get rid of the stain quicker, but it will probably end up causing you to have to refinish the entire floor.

    • 5

Clean the sanded area with a soft rag.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use ammonia, or any product with ammonia in it, because it will damage a hardwood floor (reference 1).
