    • 1

Turn off your laptop and disconnect the power supply. Also disconnect any network cables, USB cables, and peripherals.

    • 2

Use a screwdriver to remove the screws on the bottom of the computer. Look at the screws to determine if you need a standard or Phillips head screwdriver.

    • 3

Turn the computer over so that the keyboard is facing you, then carefully place your fingers behind the last row of keys on the keyboard.

    • 4

Lift the keyboard gently out of the way and turn it upside down so that it rests on the touchpad. Be sure not to remove the keyboard cable.

    • 5

Remove the existing RAM module by pulling gently on the tabs. The RAM module should slide out smoothly.

    • 6

Remove the new RAM module from its packaging and slide it into the slot at a 45-degree angle. The tabs should click into place and hold the new RAM module securely.

    • 7

Replace the screws on the panel at the bottom of the computer, then turn the laptop right-side up and put the keyboard back in place. Reconnect the power to the laptop, turn it on, and allow it to recognize the new RAM module.
