How to Access Music From an iPod

  1. Accessing Music on Windows

      Connect your iPod to the computer using the iPod USB cable.

      Open your folder preferences. Here, check off that you would like to be able to view hidden folders and files.

      Go to My Computer. Locate the iPod (:E disk/drive) and double-click on the icon to open it.

      Click to open the data folders in the iPod. Here, you will see the music stored on your device, including all your song files.

      Select and drag your song files onto your computer to transfer your music library.

    Accessing Files on Mac OS

      Connect your iPod to the computer using the iPod USB cable.

      Download the free Houdini program for your Mac operating system.

      Install the program by double-clicking on the .dmg file and transferring it to your Applications.

      Double-click on the Houdini icon to launch the program.

      Select the "Folders" tab when it appears. This will give you five options: "Hide," "Create," "Move," "Open" and "Delete."

      Select "Open." This will bring up the Finder window where you can select your iPod under "Devices."
