How to Convert .MOV to .AVI Shareware

"Convert MOV to AVI" is free software for Windows. It converts QuickTime videos (.mov file extension) to Audio Video Interleave video (.avi file extension). It supports MPEG4, DivX and Xvid. The software can encode DVD and Video CD video in NTSC or PAL formats.

Instructions

Install Convert MOV to AVI

1. Download the "Convert MOV to AVI" installer. See the References section for a link to the installer, named "convertmovtoavi_setup.exe."

2. Double-click convertmovtoavi_setup.exe to launch the installer.

3. Click the "Next" button to start the software setup.

4. Click the "Next" button to use the default installation folder. Otherwise, click the "Browse" button and choose a different folder before clicking the "Next" button.

5. Click the "Next" button to accept the Start Menu folder that the installer will create for software shortcuts.

6. Click on the checkbox next to "Create a desktop icon."

7. Click the "Install" button. The software will be installed.

8. Click the "Finis"h button to complete the installation and launch "Convert MOV to AVI."

Convert Your Video

1. Click the "Open" button. Select your QuickTime video and click the "Open" button.

2. Click the button next to the desired AVI Video Format. Xvid will create an AVI compatible with Windows Media Player. Song PSP will create a 320x240 MP4 compatible with many portable media players. NTSC formats are compatible with televisions and media players in the United States.

3. Click the "Convert" button. The "Browse for Folder" window will open. Browse for the folder where you want to put the converted video (click the plus "+" signs to see subfolders under the drives and folders listed). If you need to create a new subfolder, click the "Make New Folder" button and type a folder name.

4. Click the "OK" button. The conversion will start. The status bar will show how far the conversion has progressed. A window titled "Information" will pop up when the conversion is complete. Click the "OK" button to finish.
