How to Convert English to Arabic Lettering

To most English speakers, Arabic lettering looks like some form of ancient art or complex, cryptic code. Not only does Arabic use a foreign alphabet, it also is written right to left and boasts a complicated system of invisible vowels. Without any formal Arabic training, it's hard to tell which end is up. But that's where Google Translate comes in. It's a tool that converts English phrases into Arabic with the simple click of your mouse.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the Google Translate site by clicking on the link listed below or by typing "www.translate.google.com" into your browser.

    • 2

Select "English" from the first drop-down list.

    • 3

Select "Arabic" from the second drop-down list.

    • 4

Copy of type the English text you wish to translate into Arabic. Paste into the blank field in Google Translate.

    • 5

Click "Translate." The Arabic translation of your text will appear under the blue bar.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are trying to find a particular Arabic word and you only know what it sounds like in English, no problem. Just begin typing the English transliteration of that word and Google Translate will automatically recognize it.

  • Google Translate works best if you convert small phrases individually, rather than large paragraphs. If the software doesn't recognize a word within a phrase, it will simply add the unrecognized English word to your Arabic translation.

  • Remember that the written Arabic language does not typically show the vowels that appear above and below each letter. Be careful, as this could significantly change the meaning and pronunciation of each word.

  • Google Translate is helpful, but it is impossible for a computer program to know exactly what you intend to say every time. To be absolutely sure of your translation, check it with a native Arabic speaker.
