How to Install Anchor Bolts in Concrete
Anchor bolts are an essential part of concrete construction. These are bolts, placed in the concrete with the threaded side up. They allow you to secure wall forms or other portions of the construction onto the concrete foundation slab. It's important when placing anchor bolts to place them carefully and accurately, since moving them later will be extremely difficult and will hold up your construction project significantly. 1
Check that all your concrete forms are completely prepared. The concrete forms are the boards that will hold the concrete in place while it hardens and cures. These should be completely ready before proceeding to the installation of the anchor bolts.
-
2
Measure and mark the locations of your anchor bolts on the forms. While the anchor bolts won't be on the forms, you'll use the forms as a guide to placing the anchor bolt holders. Mark the forms with a pencil to indicate the points at which the anchor bolts will be placed.

3
Place your anchor bolt holders on the forms. Anchor bolt holders are available from building supply and home improvement stores. Place each anchor bolt holder in position, then nail it into place so that the portion of the holder that holds the bolt is positioned over the spot where the anchor bolt will be positioned.
-
4
Screw your anchor bolts into the holder. Anchor bolts have guides marked on them so that you'll have the bolt properly positioned at the right height relative to the level of the concrete to be poured. Screw the bolt in until it matches the height and depth you desire.
-
5
Pour your concrete into the form, allowing it to flow around the anchor bolts. Pour the concrete until it reaches the proper level.
-
6
Let the concrete dry completely before removing the anchor bolt holders. Removing the holders before then might knock the bolts out of position.
