How to Create an NTFS Partition in Linux

The NTFS file system is the file system used in Windows 2000 and above. It is a proprietary file system developed by Microsoft, but it can be created in Linux with the GParted partition manager. GParted uses the ntfsprogs utility to create and manage NTFS partitions. This utility is open source software for working with NTFS. Historically, Linux could read from an NTFS partition but could not write to it reliably. The ntfsprogs utility makes it possible to read and write to the partition.
