Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the power to your weed trimmer if it is an electric-powered model. For a gas-powered unit, unplug the spark plug wire on your weed trimmer. Remove the spool or head of your weed trimmer. This is usually done by unscrewing a screw on the head; however, some units are held on by tabs or buttons that you push in to make the head or spool release. See your owner's manual for specifics.

    • 2

Look for a hole in the spool. This is where you will put one end of your line. Follow the arrow and wrap your line around the spool in the direction the arrow is pointing until the spool is almost full. Keep a firm tension while wrapping your line around the spool. Do not wrap the line too tight or too loose.

    • 3

Thread your line through the hole on the spool cover, and pull out about 6 inches of line to get started.

    • 4

Reattach the spool cover and check to make sure that the head and spool are secure.

    • 5

Plug in the unit or reattach the plug wire to start the weed trimmer, and tap the head on the ground to test your weed trimmer. You are now ready to get back to finishing your yard work.
