How to Hang Picture Frames on a Wall

Hanging picture frames on the walls of your home will help add beauty and your personal touch. Once you have decided where you'll hang your picture frame, you can begin. There is little preparation for this project and no time-consuming work. You will be finished in just a few minutes and you don't need many tools.

Things You'll Need

• Hammer
• Nail
• Stud finder

Instructions

1. Locate the place you want to hang the picture frame. Use a stud finder to find the support stud in the wall.

2. Mark the stud with a pencil. Hammer a nail into the wall where you just marked. The nail should be at a slightly upward angle. Drive it in so that 1/4 inch is still sticking out of the wall.

3. Wipe off any dust or other debris on the picture glass and the frame. Hang the picture frame on the nail by the support wire on the back of the frame.

4. Tilt the frame from left to right until it is straight. Make any other adjustments necessary to level the picture frame.

Tips & Warnings

• The size and shape of your picture frame will determine the size and number of nails needed.
