During the wintertime, after a good snowfall, ice melt will likely be tracked indoors all over your ceramic flooring. Ice melt is a great product to use to melt off snow and ice, and increase walking and driving safety on the pavement around your home or office. Adding sand to the ice melt will increase its effectiveness and add traction to the pavement while the ice melt is doing its thing. Things You'll Need
- Broom
- Dust pan
- Liquid floor cleaner
- Sponge mop
- Bucket
- Warm water
- Thick floor rugs

Sweep undissolved chunks of ice melt up with a broom and remove the mess from the floor with a dust pan.

Apply liquid floor cleaner that is safe and recommended for ceramic tile floors. The amount applied should be appropriate to clean a 3-foot by 3-foot area at a time.

Scrub the tile surface with a damp sponge mop using back and forth movements.

Rinse the mop often in a bucket of warm water. Repeat the process over the remaining surface of the floor. Allow the floor to dry before allowing regular traffic over it.

Lay thick rugs on the floor inside of exterior doors so they will catch most of the ice melt, sand, dirt and water that are tracked in from the outdoors.
