Instructions

    • 1

Attach a circle cutting guide to a rotary tool (Dremel or RotoZip) and set the cutting guide to the 12-inch diameter setting. A circle cutting guide is an attachment that is applied to a rotary tool that will allow you to make perfectly round cuts in many different types of material. Place the cutting guide and the rotary tool onto a small sheet of either ¾-inch plywood or OSB (oriented stranded board) and cut a 12-inch diameter circle out of the wood.

    • 2

Lay the circular piece of wood onto a work surface and place a galvanized flush mounting plate over the center of the wood. Fasten the mounting plate to the wood with four short wood screws.

    • 3

Thread (screw) a 6-inch galvanized pipe nipple into the mounting plate. The inside diameter of the pipe nipple should be slightly larger than the outside diameter of the flag pole. Both ends of the galvanized pipe nipple are threaded. For aesthetic purposes, cut exposed threads off the nipple with a hand pipe cutter.

    • 4

Use a paint brush to apply a generous coat of paint primer to the wooden and metal parts of the display stand. Allow the primer to dry completely, then apply a coat of paint to the display stand to dress it up and make it worthy of the occasion. Allow the paint to dry completely before handling the flag display stand.

    • 5

Place the display stand in the appropriate area at the front of a room (according to flag displaying regulations) and slip the end of the flag pole into the pipe nipple after the flag ceremony is over.
