  1. How to Connect a DirecTV DVR to Wireless Internet

      Unplug your wireless adapter and connect your DirecTV DVR receiver to your wireless adapter. Do this by connecting one end of your Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of your wireless adapter. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of your DVR receiver.

      Plug your wireless adapter into an electrical outlet.

      Make sure your home network detects your wireless adapter. When your router detects the wireless adapter, you will be allowed to configure the devices. Select "Configure Now."

      Once your adapter is detected, a list of networks will pop up on the screen. Choose yours and then select "Continue." Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the installation.

      Check that your DVR is properly connected. Press "Menu" on your DirecTV remote and select "Parental, FAV'S & Setup." Click on "Network" and then "Connect Now." If your DVR is properly connected, you will receive a message on your TV screen saying, "Congratulations! Your receiver is now connected with DirecTV via the Internet." Select "Continue" when you see this screen, then "Done."

  • DirecTV On Demand requires an update to your program guide. It can take up to 24 hours before your menus are fully populated.
