How to Attach Chains to Tractor Tires
Weather can wreak havoc on those who work outdoors. Snow, ice, mud, and other weather related items can make it difficult to operate various machinery such as tractors. Your tires can begin to slip in the snow or ice resulting in either getting stuck or simply not getting anywhere. Attaching chains to your tractor tires can eliminate or reduce slippage associate with things like snow and ice. Park your tractor on level ground with enough room to drive forward for about 20-50 feet.

Lay your chains out in front of each tire. Make sure you have the side that goes against the tire facing up and that they are aligned with the tires properly. Also, make sure you set the correct size chains with the correct size tires.

Drive your tractor forward until your tires are centered on the chains. You should have an equal amount of chains in front of and in back of the tires.

Grasp the front of the chains and the back of the chains and pull them together over the tire. They should meet at the top of the tire.

Connect your chains together. This will differ based on the manufacturer of your chains so check their instructions for connecting them.

Drive your tractor forward for 1/8-1/4 of a mile to ensure that they are properly attached.
