How to Create a Multicolored Smoky Eye for Nighttime Only

Some women wear bright or pastel colors in the evening because they are afraid to experiment with darker eye colors. But bright colors can appear gaudy or faded in the evening and usually aren't suitable for evening occasions. Dark and muted tones, such as navy blue and opaque black, however, are perfect for the evening. Multicolored smoky eyes are easy to create. With a few different eye shadows and different application brushes, you can create this richly pigmented, dark-eye look. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Apply eye primer to the eyelids with your fingers. Use a patting motion so as not to pull the skin.

    • 2

Apply black cream eye shadow to your entire eyelid with a shadow brush.

    • 3

Use the other side of the shadow brush to apply a matte black-blue eye shadow to your crease.

    • 4

Use a blending brush to blend the black-blue shadow upwards toward the brow bone, stopping just before the brow bone.

    • 5

Apply a navy eye shadow over the black-blue eye shadow on the lid with a blending brush.

    • 6

Apply a cream-colored eyeliner to the area just under the eyebrow, and smudge the liner with your fingers. This is an alternative to highlighting, a technique used to help eye shadow colors stand out more on your eye.

    • 7

Use a liner brush to apply the navy eye shadow to the lower lash line.

    • 8

Apply a black eyeliner to the upper and lower lash line.

    • 9

Apply black mascara to the upper lash line only.
