Choose a manual rotating tie rack or a motorized tie rack. Several brands of revolving tie racks are available with battery powered carousels and lights. Automatic tie racks must be installed on a closet rod. The mounting process is simple for users and comparable for all models. Manual tie racks are available with hooks that simply hang over closet rods like clothing hangers.

Mount an automatic tie rack onto the hanger rod in a closet. Insert the proper size batteries into the battery compartment and close the cover. Hold the rack with the light facing forward and down. Slip the rod cover off by sliding it to off to one side or the other. Turn the rod tension all the way to its widest setting on models with tension adjusters. Place the housing of the tie rack on the desired location of the closet rod by holding the open rod bracket up against the rod. Push the rod cover back on by sliding it into place on the housing over the rod. Tighten the tension knob with clockwise turns if applicable.

Push the button on a motorized tie rack to spin the carousel in the desired direction. Automatic tie racks can revolve in either direction. Lighted models automatically illuminate upon pushing the rotator button. Release the button to stop rotation when the desired tie is at the front of the tie rack.

Rotate a manual rack by spinning the carousel by hand. View the ties in a collection and stop the rotation with the desired tie in front for easy retrieval.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep fresh batteries in motorized tie racks. Leakage from corroded cells can leave permanent stains on ties.

  • Avoid spilling liquids on an automatic tie rack. Moisture can short circuit an electric motor and corrode metal parts.
