How to Clean Up a Wax Spill on a Kitchen Counter
You may love candles and candlelit meals, but you probably don't love candle wax spilled on a table, the floor or your kitchen counter. Wax is a challenging substance to remove from most surfaces. Scraping the wax with a sharp knife can lead to scratches on your kitchen counter. Harsh chemicals can also harm surfaces. Things You'll Need
- Drinking glass
- 4 ice cubes
- Soft cloth or rag
- Putty knife
- Rubber band
- Warm water
- Paper towel

Fill a drinking glass with four ice cubes.

Rub the spilled wax with an ice cube until the ice melts. Use all four ice cubes on the wax.

Wrap a soft cloth or rag around the blade of a putty knife. Secure the cloth or rag to the putty knife with a rubber band.

Tilt the putty knife at a 90-degree angle and gently scrape the wax spill from the kitchen counter. The ice should freeze the wax enough to make it easy to pull off the counter.

Unwrap the soft cloth or rag from the putty knife.

Wet the soft cloth or rag with warm water.

Wipe the spot where the wax spilled with the damp cloth or rag.

Dry the counter with a paper towel.

Tips & Warnings
You can also use a plastic scraper to scrape the wax off. However, if you notice any small scratches on the counter, wrap a soft cloth around the scraper blade to keep the tool from damaging the counter surface.
