How to Download Cover Art for an iPod

Picture files that are saved as cover art on audio files on your computer can be viewed on iPods that have screens. You can also download cover art onto full albums or songs that are saved in iTunes before adding those songs onto the iPod. The iTunes software may not be able to locate the cover art for every file in iTunes. In these cases, you can manually save the album art onto the audio files and then add those files to the iPod.

Download Album Artwork

1. Open iTunes.

2. Click "Advanced" at the top of the program.

3. Select "Get Album Art." The program will search for artwork for every album in iTunes and then download that artwork if the cover art is located by iTunes.

Manually Add Album Artwork

1. Open iTunes and highlight every song that is without cover art.

2. Click "File" and choose "Get Info." A window will open.

3. Click the "Artwork" tab in the top right corner of the open window.

4. Choose "Add" and a window will open.

5. Locate the picture on your computer that you are going to use as cover art and click "Open." The cover art will appear inside the window. Click "OK" to save the cover art.

Adding Album Artwork to iPod

1. Plug the iPod into your computer via any usable USB port on the computer. Your iPod will then be shown underneath "Devices" on the left side of iTunes.

2. Click "Music" under "Library" at the top of the left iTunes column.

3. Highlight either the entire album or the song (or songs) with the cover art that you either downloaded or manually added to the file (or files).

4. Drag the album or song(s) over to the iPod underneath the "Devices" option. The cover art and files will be synced to the iPod.
