Candy vases make for festive and tasty centerpieces. You can make your own candy vase in less than one hour, and have it ready for the party before anyone arrives. The vases allow you to be creative, and you can customize a candy centerpiece to match any theme. The vases serve two purposes because they are aesthetically appealing and completely consumable. Instructions

    • 1

Choose a vase style that suits your theme. The vase needs to have a wide bottom to accommodate the candy, and a wide enough top for half of a Styrofoam ball.

    • 2

Flip the vase over onto a piece of cardboard. Trace the top of the vase with a pencil. Cut out this cardboard circle with sharp scissors.

    • 3

Fill the vase with your preferred candy. Use candy colors that match your theme, such as red and green for Christmas. Try using small round candies, such as jellybeans, to fill up all the space in the vase. This will eliminate any air pockets that might interfere with the centerpiece's design. Make sure you fill the vase completely full of candy.

    • 4

Use a hot glue gun to attach the cardboard circle to the top of your vase. Place glue on the rim of the vase, and press the cardboard circle down onto the vase's rim.

    • 5

Cut a Styrofoam ball in half. Glue one-half of the Styrofoam ball to the cardboard. Make sure that your Styrofoam ball covers all of the cardboard.

    • 6

Attach candy to the Styrofoam ball. Use larger candy pieces that are still in wrappers to make the Styrofoam ball appear like a bouquet. Glue on pieces of salt-water taffy, gumballs or tootsie rolls.

    • 7

Place the gumdrops on toothpicks. Insert one gumdrop onto one toothpick, but do not allow the toothpick to go completely through the candy. Insert the toothpick gumdrops candy in the Styrofoam ball in between the other candy pieces. You can place as many candies as you desire.

    • 8

Sit your candy vase centerpiece in the middle of the table.

Tips & Warnings

  • Layer the vases with different colors of candies.

  • Add a decorative touch to your centerpieces by tying a large bow around each vase.
