First you are going to have to decide if you are going to provide daycare in your home or go to there home to provide the care.

You will then want to figure out how many hours you are willing to work and what you are going to charge for your daycare. You need to figure if they run over any time what you will charge for keeping the child/children extra hours.

Next you will need to make a contract up detailing how much they will pay, when they will pay, hours agreed upon, how much they will pay for extra hours, how you want paid (cash, check, etc.) The fee you will charge for late payment, The fee you will charge for returned checks. What you will and will not provide at your home. Anything else that you want them to know that you will and will not do in your home. Then make sure you and the parents sign the contract.

Next you will want to get your daycare advertised. To do this you will need to have Business cards made up so you can hand out. You can get these at www.vistaprint.com for a low price. You can hand these out at your local schools, churches, grocery stores and any where that has bulletin boards you can post them on.

Next you will want to make sure you have toys available for all ages you choose to watch. You will want to come up with a activity list you are going to do with the children everyday. Parents are impressed to see you have a schedule and the children are not watching tv all day.

When you get your first client make sure to have a interview with them (parent/parents and children). Show them around the home and where the children will take there naps and play. Go over the contract with them thoroughly so they cannot say later that they did not know something. My interviews usually last a hour sometimes a little longer. I have done this 20 years and if you follow these steps you should have no problem in your daycare business.

    Tips & Warnings
