Identify the brand of faucet that you have. Identify the style of faucet so you know what you need. Go to the hardware store and with the help of a qualified store employee find the replacement cartridge you will need.

When you have the correct cartridge for replacement you are ready to remove the faulty one. Shut off water supply to faucet. Take a screwdriver or allen wrench and loosen handle on faucet. This should expose the cartridge. To remove the cartridge, depending on brand, there is a clip or threaded hold down. Remove clip with a screwdriver. Pull cartridge straight up and out.

When installing new cartridge be careful of the o-rings. The o-rings are what leaks when they become damaged. Take a small amount of water based lubricant and apply to o-rings and carefully install cartridge. Put the hold down clip back in. Turn water back on to faucet.

When turning water back on take your time to remove air.
