How to Install a New car Battery in your vehicle

Your car goes click when you turn the key. You might need a new battery. With a few basic tools you can replace it yourself. Interstate batteries along with a lot of others are quality batteries.

Instructions

1. Go to automotive center like Napa and look up the battery that your vehicle requires. Purchase battery and bring to your vehicle. A battery is an investment buy quality. Make sure your vehicle is parked in a safe place to be worked on.

2. Open the hood of vehicle. Locate the battery. Put on protective clothing,gloves and goggles. Batteries contain acid that can be harmful. It is good insurance to wear protective clothing.

3. Remove the battery cables by loosening bolt in the connection. Remove the negative one first. If it does not have post remove bolt completely. Take a pair of pliers to remove from post. There should be a pinch clamp holding the battery in place. Next you will loosen the bolt in the clamp enough to remove battery from vehicle.

4. Install new battery in battery holder. Tighten pinch clamp to hold battery in place. Make sure all connections are clean. If cable end is corroded or dirty take a wire brush and clean it. You can also scrape it with a utility knife. Hook the battery cables on to the new battery. Hook the positive cable on first. After that hook the negative cable up. Make sure all connections are tight. Start your vehicle.

• Batteries are heavy. Be careful batteries have acid in them.
