How to Burn an Audio CD in iTunes 9
When you listen to music on your computer with iTunes 9, you might want to burn an audio CD of the songs so you can play them in a CD player, such as in your home music system or in a vehicle's CD player. iTunes is a free application from Apple that you use to play media files, rip music from CDs, download songs from the Apple iTunes Store, and manage your iPad, iPhone and iPod.

Launch iTunes 9 on your computer. A list of your playlists appears in the left pane of the iTunes application window. You can only burn CDs from a playlist.

Click the "Plus" sign at the bottom of the iTunes window if you need to create a playlist to burn to a CD. Type a name for the playlist, such as "My First CD."

Click "Music" under "Library" in the left pane of the iTunes window. Drag songs from your music library onto the name of your new playlist to add the songs. Click the name of the playlist to select it and see the songs in the main iTunes window. The amount of time they take up is displayed at the bottom of the iTunes window. The maximum amount of music that fits on most CDs is 74 minutes, or 650 MB. A 700-MB CD can hold about 80 minutes of music.

Drag songs up or down in the list to change the play order.

Insert a blank CD in your computer's optical drive, then click "Burn Disc" at the bottom of the iTunes window. A dialog box appears. Click the "Audio CD" format option.

Click the "Gap Between Songs" pull-down menu, then click a time, such as one or two seconds. Click the "Sound Check" check box to select it if you want iTunes to adjust the volume of each song to play at the same level, if you are burning a CD of songs from different albums that might have different sound levels.

Click "Burn" to burn the CD.
