Instead of feeling hate and regret about your job, try to focus on the positives. Try to find at least one positive thing in every task that you do throughout the day. Your boss will immediately see your positive attitude. This makes you more of an asset to the company when your willing to do the job and enjoy it.

Take the initiative whenever the opportunity comes available. This doesn't mean that asking when you don't know is acceptable for taking initiative, this means jump in there and offer to do tasks that have not been handled properly or handled at all. Make it a point to explain why you think you would be capable of doing the job and explain that you would be happy to take the opportunity. This is how promotions are given. A willing employee means great business for the company. Your boss will recognize the effort your putting into your job, and in return will respect you for the hard work.

Be there when your needed, always. Sometimes, this might mean being on-call, but hey, if you want to impress your boss -- what better way! It also means being open for longer work hours and meeting hard deadlines. Is there a task to needs to be completed and all other co-workers can't stay later? If so, jump right on in and tell your boss you'd be happy to stay and help. Even if your help might not always be needed, if you offer to be there and assist your boss will appreciate the eagerness and know that you would be willing to chip in and help.

Stay out of trouble and gossip. This is one of the main failures of many employees. They get involved in office gossip and arguments, and while you think your boss doesn't know about it -- I assure you, they do. Never gossip or say ill-related words about co-workers or your boss for that matter. Gossiping can lead to misconceptions of your appearance. It's highly unlikely that your boss will understand who and what was involved in that argument about she-said/he-said attire that you didn't complete your assignment or your co-workers will not help you out because of the misleading hearsay. This happens a lot in the work place, and the only one who will truly suffer from office gossip is yourself.

Make your boss look great and earn points. This does not mean you need to be a 'brown noser' so to speak. This advice only means that you need to present yourself and your team, if you have one, as professional as you can. This means staying on top of tasks, preparing for meetings, and making sure you boss has everything they need to make a great presentation for your department or branch.

Have a resolution for everything. When you run into a problem at work, especially dealing with a certain task, be sure that you speak with your boss about the issue and bring with you at least 3 positive resolutions to the table with you. Having solutions to solve issues at work is a very impressive quality for your boss to recognize, and they will. This shows all of the steps above plus more. It means that you truly have your head in the game and is truly interested in what's best for the company.
