Start with decorative items that you like. Be it antiques, toys or modern landscape materials. Set a bed of rocks as a starter. Get all necassary items for your flower bed. Draw out quick design so you know how to get your desired look.

Clear area where you want your flower bed. Spray herbicide to kill weeds and grass in area. If you want a rock base put landscape fabric down. If you are splicing lap this two to three inches so weeds do not grow in the seams. Apply the rocks about two inches thick.

You have your area now plan what you want to do. It is easy to keep clean if you use objects that will hold plants or flower pots. Use wagons, old farm implements, cream seperators, toilet bowls and tanks.
You can use anything that will hold dirt. Choose items that relate to each other.

If you are going to use the earth for your plants keep holes in landscape fabric to a minimal. Put your decorations in. Old wheels or an old bed,"a flower bed", or landscape rocks make great borders. When you have your border in clear rocks where your flowers are going. Cut small holes in fabric and plant flowers. You can move rocks back in if desired.
