  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/8 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 3 tbsp grated orange peel
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp fat-free milk
  • 1 tsp of orange flavoring

Instructions

      Pour the warm water in a mixing bowl and add the yeast to dissolve. Add the melted butter, eggs, sour cream, 1/4 cup of sugar and salt. Mix the ingredients together well. Slowly stir in the flour to make a soft dough and continue to mix it well.

      Transfer the dough into a well-greased bowl, cover it and let the dough rise in a warm place for roughly 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in volume.

      Combine the orange peel and 3/4 cup of sugar in a small mixing bowl and set it aside.

      Punch the dough down and transfer it to a floured surface. Knead the dough for seven minutes, or until it is smooth. Divide the dough in half, form each half into a ball and roll each ball until into a 12-inch circle using a rolling pin.

      Brush each circle of dough with 1 tbsp of melted butter and sprinkle the top of each with the sugar and orange peel mix. Cut 12 triangle-shaped rolls using a knife or biscuit cutter and roll up each triangle starting at the wide end.

      Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet with the top point of the triangle facing down on the baking sheet. Cover the rolls with a clean cloth and let them rise for 45 minutes or until doubled in size.

      Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the rolls for 25 minutes.

      Combine 1 cup of powdered sugar, 3 tbsp of fat-free milk, 1 tsp of orange flavoring and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan to make the glaze. Cook the glaze over a low heat, stirring frequently until headed. Top the yeast rolls with glaze while they are warm.
