Change shampoo habits to cure dandruff quickly. By shampooing more often, and lathering twice, irritated flaky skin is washed away, allowing the shampoo to more effectively clean the scalp. Additionally, adding several teaspoons of apple cider vinegar or lime juice to your shampoo helps treat dandruff.

Improve your diet. People who suffer from dandruff may find help by eliminating processed foods, drinking more water and eating more fruits and vegetables. The skin of the scalp requires a high level of hydration to prevent dryness and flakes.

Rinsing your hair and scalp with natural products can also help to treat dandruff. You can create a treatment by mixing 2 tsp. of vinegar with 1 tsp. of lemon juice. You can also boil five stems of dried thyme with 2 cups of water, but be sure to allow the mixture to cool before pour over your hair. Let mixture sit for 15 to 50 minutes before washing with a mild shampoo. You may also rub pure coconut oil through your hair, or apply several drops of tea tree or olive oil. In each case, use enough oil to cover the scalp completely; you can judge this in the same way you determine how much shampoo to use. A mix of one part apple cider vinegar and one part water also makes an effective treatment when combed through the hair and allowed to sit before shampooing. Mix enough of the apple cider vinegar and water mixture to cover the scalp.

Apply an overnight rinse. Overnight applications allow more time for the natural treatment to work on your scalp. Before bedtime, mix 6 tbsp. water and 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar. You can also try 1 tsp. lemon juice,100 g of witch hazel and 200 mm of distilled water. To protect your bed linens and ensure the mixture stays in your hair, wear a shower cap or wrap your head in a dry towel. Wash out with mild shampoo the next morning.
