How to Block Your Phone Number

How to Block Your Phone Number thumbnail
Block your number if you want to avoid being identified when calling.

If you have caller ID, you've probably had the experience of receiving a call from a "Private Caller" or "Unknown Number." If you want your calls to always show up this way, you must contact your phone service provider and request to block your number. If, however, you simply wish to occasionally block your number for a specific call, you can do so on your own. You must simply press the correct sequence of keys before beginning your call.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "*" key on your phone. This is typically located in the lower left corner of the number pad, directly below the "7."

    • 2

Enter the numbers "67" on your phone. This is the code that blocks your number for this particular call.

    • 3

Dial the phone number you wish to call as normal. You do not need to make any changes to the rest of the way you complete the dialing process.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember this code only works for the call you place immediately after dialing it. If you hang up from this call and want to block your ID for another call, you must enter the "*67" code again.
