Evaluate the space in your master bathroom. This is one of the most desirable features of a bathroom, since a large area can make even an ordinary bathroom seem luxurious. Often the wall between the master bath and a closet can be removed to add space to the bathroom.

2
Replace your old sink with a double sink mounted in a vanity. Double sinks are often preferred in the master bathroom, providing a space to call his or her own. Be sure the vanity in which the sinks are mounted offers plenty of storage space for towels, paper goods and other bathroom necessities.

Upgrade the fixtures based on your budget. You can go all the way by replacing the toilet, tub and shower, or you can spruce up the old ones by replacing the faucets and taps to give the bathroom a clean new look. Replace the light fixtures as well.

4
Paint the bathroom in a color that coordinates with the porcelain fixtures and the master bedroom. The color you choose depends on what you prefer, but soft pastels create a peaceful environment while bright, bold colors can energize a room.

5
Install a new floor that harmonizes with the rest of the bathroom. While tile is a good choice in many cases, it can also be expensive and difficult to install. There are many types of vinyl flooring that will look great in a bathroom and are easy and affordable to install.

Accessorize the master bath by adding coordinated touches such as shower curtain, towels, soap dish and floor mat. These small touches can help tie the whole room together and give it a facelift even if you haven’t done much more than paint the room. A few plants also add a fresh touch to the master bath.

Tips & Warnings
If you can’t afford to do as much as you’d like to the master bath, painting is the number one thing you can do to make the room look new. Complement the paint with themed accessories and new fixtures to revitalize an outdated bathroom.
Use water-resistant paint and flooring. Even if water is not spilled on the floor or splashed on the walls, humidity builds up when the shower or tub is used.
