The bible tells us to hide God's word in our heart. The only way we can do this is by consistent reading of the word. If you find yourself wanting to know the bible better than you do and you aren't really sure where to start-a daily bible reading plan is a good place to begin.

First, to create a daily bible reading plan, think about what your goals are. Would you like to read through the whole bible or would you like to just focus on either the New Testament or Old Testament? Maybe you would like to focus on a topic, such as love, or patience. When you determine what your goals are then you will have a better idea what bible reading schedule is the best for you.

Next, think about how much time you are able to commit to. If you can commit to twenty minutes a day, then you could read the entire bible through in a year. If you are really busy, don't despair---audio bibles are a great way to increase your time in the word when you have a busy schedule. You can listen to the bible while driving, exercising, or doing other activities. If you have less time, consider reading through Proverbs in a month or reading a chapter a day of another book of the bible. Many bible reading schedules offer to email you the portion of scripture that you need to read each day.

Ask God to enlighten you and teach you. Ask him to show you where you need to grow in obedience. Write down questions as you read and find the answers later either by asking your pastor or finding another mature Christian who can assist you. You can also check commentaries to see what other bible scholars have written about the bible passage.
