Library sales are a good way to get cheap books.

Buying cheap used books and reselling them at a markup won't make you a millionaire overnight, but if you can find books that are cheap enough, you can put some extra spending money in your pocket. There are several ways to obtain cheap books for resale.

Instructions

    • 1

Search online for cheap used books and buy books in lots instead of buying one book at a time. If you buy used books by the lot, you'll usually find cheaper deals -- sellers will often give you a bulk discount.

    • 2

Call your local libraries and ask when they're having their book sales. Most libraries have book sales to sell the extra books that they don't have room for. Their goal is to make room, so they'll often sell books for deeply discounted prices.

Visit your local colleges on "move-out day" at the end of each school year. Many students leave books behind because they don't want to move them back home. Most of the books you find will be textbooks, which is a good thing. You can usually sell used textbooks online for high prices.

Check your local newspaper for estate sales. You can usually buy cheap used books in bulk at estate sales -- executors often want to sell all of the books quickly. They'll probably be willing to negotiate on the price as well, since executors don't usually consider books to be a valuable part of the estate.
