How to Change Active Sync Device Name
Microsoft Active Sync is a program that helps your computer communicate and change files with a smartphone or PDA device. Each device that you register and connect to Active Sync ends up with a default ID name. If you want to change that name, you can do so through the Active Sync program for each device.

Download and install Active Sync if you don't already have it. You can do this by clicking on the link below in "Resources." Hit the "Download Now" text and OK the download.

Install the program and hook up your smartphone, which will bring you through the setup process and give the device an ID.

Change the ID by clicking on the "Start" menu and then selecting "Settings," then "System." Choose "About" and then select "Device ID."

Click on the "Device Name" field. Enter the new name. Reconnect your device and it should recognize the new name.
