How to Donate Frequent Flier Miles to Veterans
The Fisher House is a nonprofit organization that helps people donate their frequent flyer miles to veterans of the U.S. military. After individuals donate their frequent flyer miles, the Fisher House Foundation provides free airline tickets to veterans of the military who are undergoing treatment at a VA medical center or military treatment center. If you would like to donate your frequent flyer miles, there are a few simple steps that need to be taken to ensure the miles are donated successfully.

View the list of participating airlines on the Fisher House website. As of 2009, the airlines that participate in the program are: AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Midwest Airlines, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways. Your airline miles must be associated with one of these airlines in order to donate the miles to a veteran.

Log into the online account for your specific airline. All of the participating airlines offer an online service for their members; you can log in and view the number of miles you have accumulated. Once you have determined how many miles are available, determine the number of miles you wish to donate.

Contact your specific airline to determine the appropriate procedure for donating airline miles to the Fisher House organization for veterans. Each airline has a different procedure, so it will be necessary to research the appropriate method of donation. For example, AirTrain Airways requires you to submit the request online, while Northwest Airlines requires you to submit the request over the phone.

Donate your credit card frequent flyer points to veterans as well. Call your credit card company to determine how you can convert your frequent flyer points into miles. Ask the credit card company which airlines they are associated with. If your credit card company allows you to convert points into miles for an airline associated with Fisher House, proceed to convert your points into miles. Then, create a Mileage Account with the airline and donate your miles through the appropriate method.
