Instructions

    • 1

Draw a teardrop shape on card stock. Dimensions should be 4 inches wide and 3 inches long. This will be the pattern for your leaves. Cut out the template.

    • 2

Draw around the pattern onto crepe or tissue paper. If you use tissue paper, you may want to double it to add thickness. You will need five petals. Cut the petals out.

    • 3

Color the petals using markers of the same color but varying shades. This will add depth and texture to the flower. To look like a true hibiscus, use the same color on all petals. As you put the petals together, darken them in the center with the same colored marker.

    • 4

Cut off one end of the cotton swab and color it to resemble the flower's stamen. Coat the tip of the swab with yellow chalk to simulate the pollen.

    • 5

Attach the petals at the tips to the cotton swab so that the stamen is poking up through the center. Secure with floral tape and then secure the blossom to the stem using the tape.
