Motion Detector False Alarms
-
1
Check to see if your motion detectors are installed above a furnace or a heater. Both of these placements can cause false alarms.
-
2
If you installed the motion detectors yourself, move them away from the furnace or heater. If an ADT technician installed them, call ADT customer service at (888) 238-2727 and let them know that your motion sensors were installed incorrectly and need to be moved free of charge.

-
3
If the sensor is installed correctly, check for loose objects that could be triggering the alarm, such as balloons and blowing curtains.
ADT Alarm Keypad Reads "No AC"

A "No AC" message from your keypad means that your alarm is not receiving electricity. Check the outlet to make sure that it's working properly.
-
5
If your outlet is equipped with a reset button, press it in and check to see if the alarm keypad resets.
-
6
Unplug the keypad, wait one minute and plug it back in.
Keypad Reads "Not Ready"

Check all doors and windows equipped with motion sensors to be sure that they are closed securely.
-
8
Make sure that no one else is walking around the house. The system will not arm while motion sensors detect movement.
-
9
Check to ensure that all previous alarms have been cleared out of the system's memory by pressing the "reset" button and holding it down for two seconds.
