How To Hookup PC Speakers to a TV
The built-in speakers on most television sets can seldom compare to a quality pair of external stereo speakers, such as used for home theater. Connecting PC speakers to a TV is a good option in homes with limited or no space for full-size speakers, or where economics and portability are factors. A pair of PC speakers can be connected to a TV and disconnected in seconds for use with a computer or other electronic device. The only special equipment needed for this connection is a Y adapter sold in electronics stores.

Switch on the PC speakers and turn on the television to hear programming through both the external speakers and the TV's built in speakers.
-
7
Use the TV remote control to turn off the television's built-in speakers by pressing the Menu button and using the up and down arrow keys to toggle to Speakers. Use the left and right arrow keys to switch the built-in speakers on or off.

Tips & Warnings
Only use PC speakers with a built-in amplifier. The audio signal out of a television is not powerful enough to drive even a small pair of speakers.
Turn off all equipment while making connections to prevent a sudden power surge or accidentally crossed wire from damaging the TV or the speakers.
