How to Fix the Wand for Wood Blinds

Wood blinds are elegant touches to any home decor. Even though these blinds can be expensive, parts can break on them like any other blinds. Wand tilts can break, resulting in the slats on the blinds not tilting. It can be more economical to replace the wand tilt or fix it yourself, rather than purchasing a new unit.       Twist the wand tilt counterclockwise while, at the same time, you are gently pulling on the rear string of the ladders. Try this if the blind slats are closed, facing down, and will not open with the tilt wand.

      Twist the wand tilt clockwise while, at the same time, you are gently pulling on the rear string of ladders. Try this if the blind slats are closed, facing up, and will not open with the tilt wand.

      Remove the blinds from the window if the above steps did not work. Try re-connecting the tilt wand back to the tilt mechanism if it is disconnected and the blinds still will not tilt. Push the end of the long metal rod or tilt rod into the mechanism that holds the tilt cords. Shove the rod until it is hooked to the tilt wand and it should snap back in place. Hang the blinds back in the window.

      Replace the tilt wand if the blinds still will not tilt. Remove the end stiffener or metal piece from the end of the head rail on the same side the tilt wand is on.Take out the C-clamp that supports the rod and pull the tilt rod from the wand tilter. Pry open the head rail with a flat screwdriver and pull out the wand. Grab the wand tilter with needle nose pliers and pull it out. Push the wand tilter in the opening.

      Put back the rod, C-clamps and end stiffeners back in the head rail and hang the blinds back on the wall. Make sure the length is correct.
