Instructions

  1. Direct Attachment

    • 1

Draw an outline of your number sign onto a piece of paper. Locate the screw holes and use a pencil to mark their location on the paper template.

    • 2

Cut out the template. Lay the template on the side of the house or mailbox and mark the location of the screw holes where you want to hang the sign.

    • 3

Screw the anchors into the side of the house or mailbox with a power drill. Make sure they are tightened and fully expanded.

    • 4

Take the house sign and place in front of the anchors. Use the screws that came with the sign to screw into the anchors. It may work best if you use a hand-held screwdriver rather than a power screwdriver to prevent the screws from stripping out the anchors.

    • 5

Apply a small bit of silicone to the ends of the screws. This will prevent them from becoming removed easily, and will improve the appearance of the sign.

    Hanging from a Post

    • 6

Attach a small chain to the top two holes in the sign. Use pliers to squeeze the links closed.

    • 7

Lay two pieces of 2x4 boards together at right angles. Screw together with long screws.

    • 8

Cut a small piece of wood long enough to reach between the two other pieces of wood with a 45-degree angle on each end. Screw to the inside of the post as a support.

    • 9

Dig a hole about two feet deep and place the post inside. Pack the dirt down. Screw two handing screws into the end of the post that is hanging over the grass. Attach the house sign to the hanging screws by the chain.
