How to Make a Big Green Egg

If you know some little readers who are fans of the Dr. Seuss classic Green Eggs and Ham, why not decorate their reading area with over-sized green eggs. Display the eggs in a basket or on a shelf. The eggs are easy to make using an egg form, decoupage medium, and green tissue paper. Decoupage medium is similar to glue, but thinner. It also provides a protective coating, which means your egg will last longer.

Instructions

    • 1

Tear up the green tissue paper into thin strips.

    • 2

Insert three toothpicks into the bottom of the egg so it stands up.

    • 3

Pour a mixture of half water and half white glue in a bowl. Mix with the paintbrush.

    • 4

Apply a thin layer of the glue mixture onto the egg with the paintbrush.

    • 5

Dip the pieces of tissue paper into the mixture and apply them to the egg. Once it is covered in tissue paper, let it dry for about twenty minutes. Apply another thin layer of glue to the egg.

    • 6

Let the egg dry completely. Apply another layer of glue if any parts of the paper are loose. Remove the toothpicks. Use a dot of glue and small pieces of tissue paper to cover up the holes.
