How to Travel With Bare Minerals Make-Up

Bare Minerals was introduced to the cosmetics world in 1995 by Bare Escentuals CEO Leslie Blodgett. Marketed as a 100-percent pure makeup line, Bare Minerals is the solution to women all over the globe with sensitive skin, or for those who just want a more natural way to look beautiful. The foundation, Mineral Veil, blushes and some eyeshadows all have a plastic sifter piece inside the jar. When too much product comes up through the sifter, it can be a disaster waiting to happen. This can make travel a bit difficult, though it is a problem easily fixed. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the plastic sifter piece from the jar. Slide your fingernail underneath the lip of the sifter and very carefully lift up. You may need to loosen the sifter on each side before it will completely release.

    • 2

Pour any makeup held in the sifter back into the bottom of the jar. Use a paper towel to clean the sifter, both top and bottom. Make sure no residual makeup remains on any part of the sifter. If necessary, you may wash it in warm soapy water, but be sure to rinse and dry it thoroughly before proceeding.

    • 3

Place a piece of clear tape over the holes on the top of the sifter. The tape should be placed so that when it is placed back in the jar, the tape will be facing you, not the product. Depending on the size of the jar, you may need two pieces of tape to securely cover all of the holes. Smaller jars such as those used for eyeshadow may only require one.

    • 4

Use your safety pin and carefully poke a hole through one or two of the holes now covered with tape. Wiggle the pin around to completely open the hole.

    • 5

Place the sifter back into the jar, being careful to press down all the way around so it is well secured.

    • 6

Place a cotton round into the top of the sifter and replace the cap. You are now ready to travel with your Bare Minerals! The tape covering most of the holes will prevent all the product from escaping into the top. The holes you created will allow just the right amount of product to escape when you're ready to use it. The cotton round will collect any minerals that may escape those holes during the shuffle of traveling.

Tips & Warnings

  • When you purchase a new jar of product, you can simply poke a hole in the protective sticker covering the sifter instead of removing it to replace it with tape.
