How to Get Rid of Razor Bumps Effectively
Razor bumps are ingrown hairs. The ends of hair become sharp and grow back into the skin. They usually occur in people who try to shave curly hairs. Sometimes they itch and they occasionally can become infected. Getting rid of razor bumps is an ongoing process in which you must exfoliate the area to get rid of dead skin. Some knowledge of skin care and how to shave correctly will help to get rid of those nasty bumps.

1
Exfoliate the affected area daily and before shaving. St. John Health System suggests using a body wash with glycolic acid and a wash cloth. This removes any dry skin build-up that may prevent hair growth.

2
Stay in the shower for a few minutes before shaving, softening the skin. Always use a fresh, sharp razor and lather generously with shaving cream. Shave hairs in the same direction as they grow. Press gently and do not stretch the skin, avoiding shaving over the same area twice.

3
Follow a shave with an application of a lotion with salicyclic acid in it. Also apply this on the days when you do not shave. This will make dead skin on top of the ingrown hair easier to remove.

4
Stop shaving daily if the bumps keep coming. Instead, use a depilatory cream or even just go a day or two with longer facial hair.
