How to Set up Gmail in Goldmine

Goldmine is a customer relationship management (CRM) application developed by FrontRange. It's a database-driven Windows application that offers a range of customer management features for businesses. Unfortunately, Goldmine lacks support for using secure-socket layers (SSL) to secure email transfers. To use Gmail with a desktop CRM application, you must use SSL. To enable Gmail support in Goldmine, you must first install and configure a program called Stunnel.

Instructions

    • 1

      Download and install Stunnel. To find the installer, navigate to the Download section of the Stunnel website and select "Windows Binaries."

      Select "Edit stunnel.conf" from the Windows "Start" menu.

      Find the line that reads ";client = yes" and remove the semi-colon.

      Edit the "[pop3s]" section of the stunnel.conf file to read as follows:
      accept = 995
      connect = "pop.gmail.com":995

    • 5

      Edit the "[ssmtp]" section of the stunnel.conf file to read as follows:
      accept = 465
      connect = "smtp.gmail.com":465

      Save the file and close.

      Launch Goldmine.

      Select "Tools," "Options," "Email."

    • 9

      Enter 127.0.0.1 as your "POP/SMTP Server Definitions."

      Click on the "Advanced" tab.

      Check "This server requires authentication."

    • 12

      Change the "Ports" to match the ports you established in the stunnel.conf file (i.e. POP is 995 and SMTP is 465).

      Click "Save" and close Goldmine.

      Select "Install" from the Windows "Start" menu entry for Stunnel.

      Select "Start Service" from the Windows "Start" menu entry for Stunnel.

      Restart Goldmine and enter login credentials for Gmail to complete the setup.
