How to Wire an RV Battery in a Parallel Series
Batteries are important in an RV. They often are the only source of power while on the road. RV's are traditionally outfitted with 6-volt deep-cycle batteries that are connected in both series and parallel to provide a long-lasting 12-volt power source. Connecting batteries in series will result in the combined voltage of the batteries, and connecting them in parallel will combine the capacities of the batteries.

Wiring RV Batteries in Series
-
1
Arrange the batteries to be wired in series so that the positive terminals of one battery are next to the negative terminals of the adjacent battery.
-
2
Attach a jumper cable between the positive terminal of one battery and the negative terminals of the adjacent battery. If you are connecting more than two batteries in series, continue this pattern. You will be left with an open negative terminal on the first battery in the series, and an open positive terminal on the last battery in the series.
-
-
3
Attach the positive lead from the RV to the negative terminal on the first battery in the series, and the negative lead from the RV to the positive terminal on the last battery in the series to complete the job.
Wiring RV Batteries in Parallel
-
4
Arrange the batteries to be wired in parallel so that the positive terminals of one battery are next to the positive terminals of the adjacent battery, and so that the last battery to be connected in parallel can have a jumper cable attached between it and the first battery to be connected.
-
5
Attach a jumper cable between the positive terminal of one battery and the positive terminals of the adjacent battery. If you are connecting more than two batteries in parallel, continue to connect like-terminals of each battery. In this example you would then connect the negative terminal on the second battery to the negative terminal of the third battery. Finish by connecting like-terminals between the first and last batteries.
-
6
Attach the positive lead from the RV to the negative terminal on any one of the batteries connected in parallel, and the negative lead from the RV to the positive terminal on the SAME battery, and you have successfully wired the batteries in parallel.
