You can wind up with a gas spill on your garage floor while filling a tank from a gas can or when you're working on a vehicle or other gas-powered equipment. Gasoline odor can linger for a long time if not treated, even after the liquid evaporates and you've left the garage doors open. The smell also can waft into the house if your garage is attached. You can try a few different ways to get rid of the gasoline odor on your garage floor.

Pour odor-absorbent cat litter onto any area that is still wet. Allow it to sit for an hour or two and then sweep it into the garbage.

Apply a baking soda paste if the cat litter does not do the trick. Put enough baking soda into a bucket to cover the area where the spill was located and add enough warm water to make a paste. Spread the paste over the area and let it dry. Baking soda is an effective odor neutralizer, and you can sweep it into the garbage once it's dry.

Pour dish detergent onto the garage floor. Use a kind that's specifically designed to remove grease. Scrub the area with a brush and warm water and then wipe up the area with a clean, wet rag.

Mix a pine-scented disinfectant with warm water in a bucket according to the product directions and pour it onto the smelly area. Scrub the area with a brush and then wipe up the area with a clean, wet rag. This type of cleaner is very effective at removing odors, but you'll need to put up with the strong pine scent for a while.
