How to Make Mexican Roasted Hot Sauce

Roasted Mexican hot sauce is great served with tortilla chips or on top of tacos. Making the hot sauce from scratch is rewarding, and it allows you to eat your sauce fresh. Things You'll Need

  • 3 large tomatoes
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 8 jalapeno peppers
  • Aluminum foil
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • Food processor
  • Serving dish
  • Plastic wrap

Instructions

    • 1

      Place the jalapeno peppers, garlic cloves, and tomatoes on aluminum foil. Fold the foil over and close so that you have formed a packet.

      Set the packet over a gas stove burner that has been set on medium heat. Roast for 10 minutes and then remove.

      Place the contents of the foil packet in the food processor.

      Add the oil, vinegar, and salt. Process until smooth.

      Pour the roasted hot sauce into a serving bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and set in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.

  • If you don't have a food processor, you can use a blender.
