How to Make Glycolic Acid Pads

Glycolic acid is a fruit acid that comes from the sugar cane, and also unripe grapes. It is used in many skin care products, such as acid peels, cleansers, creams, and glycolic acid pads, to help reduce the buildup of dead skin cells that can cause fine lines and dull the skin's appearance. Glycolic acid products are found in many spas across the country, but can be a little bit on the expensive side. One way to get the benefits of glycolic acid without the high cost is to make your own glycolic acid pads. Glycolic acid pads are a great option for people who do not like to layer their skin with heavy products, and they are not that hard to make. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings

  • Apply the glycolic acid solution to the face and let it sit on the skin for no longer than five minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cool water.

  • Mild tingling may occur, and this is completely normal. However, if the skin starts to feel like it is burning, rinse the face immediately with cool water to stop the action of the glycolic acid.
