Instructions

    • 1

Remove the backboard of your shadowbox frame. Measure the length and the width of the backboard.

    • 2

Remove the ribbons that you would like to use to make a shadowbox from the flower arrangements. Most ribbons on funeral flower arrangements are made into bows.

    • 3

Measure the ribbon streamers on the bows. If they are long enough to cover the width or length of your shadowbox, cut them away from the bows. If the ribbons are not long enough, snip the thread or center wire that helps hold the bow shape and straighten the ribbon. Cut a length of ribbon to fit the width or the length of the backboard. Iron it flat with a warm iron.

    • 4

Cover the backboard with strips of ribbon. You can place the ribbons side by side in vertical or horizontal stripes. You can also place the ribbons in vertical stripes and then weave more ribbon across horizontally to create a woven plaid pattern. Attach the ends of the ribbons to the backboard with hot glue.

    • 5

Arrange photos and other mementos on top of the ribbons. You can attach photos and other paper memorabilia to the ribbon with an acid-free glue stick or tabs. Look for acid-free glue products in the scrapbooking section of your local craft store. Attach other memorial items such as jewelry, medals or fabrics to the backboard with hot glue, safety pins or straight pins.

    • 6

      Reassemble the shadowbox.
