How to Make Flowers Out of Baby Wash Cloths
When you are able to combine beauty with function, the finished result is often very special. Consider the reaction of an expectant mother when you present her with a gift of baby washcloths rolled up to resemble roses in a basket. She may not even realize, at first, that the roses are washcloths that she will eventually put to good use. Line the basket with silk greenery and throw in a few other baby gifts and the gift basket will be complete.
Things You'll Need
- Gift basket (10 to 12 inches in diameter)
- Six or eight baby washcloths
- Matching satin ribbon (3/8-inch wide)
- Scissors
- Silk greenery (leaves)
- Pacifiers and rattles
- 1-inch wide satin ribbon (color to match the washcloths)
Instructions

1
Line the basket with the silk greenery to make a base for the washcloths. Fill the basket with enough green leaves that you will be able to tuck each washcloth flower in among the leaves for an attractive effect.
-
2
Cut one 10-inch length of ribbon for every washcloth.
-
-
3
Fold a washcloth in half and then in half again so it is in quarters.
-
4
Roll the washcloth tightly from one short end. Angle the roll very slightly so the rolled layers resemble a rose when the washcloth is completely rolled up.
-
5
Tie a length of ribbon around the rolled washcloth to hold it in place. Tie the ribbon into a tight bow.
-
6
Place the flower washcloths into the basket as you make them. Space them evenly in the basket among the leaves.
-
7
Add the pacifiers and rattles to the basket to fill in any bare spots.
-
8
Cut the ribbon off so it is long enough to encircle the basket and tie in a big bow. Wrap the wide satin ribbon around the basket and tie it in a large bow in the front.
