Eid ul-Fitr is the three-day Festival of Fast-Breaking that marks the end of Ramadan. After gathering in mosques to share the Eid prayer, Muslims typically celebrate the holiday by giving gifts to family and friends. Making Eid cards is a fun and creative way to get into the spirit of the holiday. If you have children, get them involved. Instructions

  1. Pretty Print Moon and Star Card

    • 1

Select a pretty piece of card stock with a decorative pattern on it. Measure it and cut it to 8 inches by 6 inches. Fold it in half so that you have a 4- by 6-inch greeting card.

    • 2

Get medium-sized white or silver die cuts in the shape of a crescent moon and a star. The crescent moon should be about an inch smaller than the cover of the card so you have plenty of space around it. You don't want it to touch the edges. The star should be smaller than the moon, so that it can fit in the curve of the crescent without touching it.

    • 3

Arrange the crescent moon and the star on the front cover of the card. Affix them in place with a glue stick.

    • 4

Write a short message on the star, such as, "Happy Eid," with a marker in the color of your choice. Select a color that matches the print of the card stock.

    • 5

Use a tube of glitter glue in a color that matches the print on the card stock. Trace around the edge of the moon and star with the glitter glue. Allow the glitter glue to dry.

    • 6

Measure and cut a piece of plain white or silver paper to a 5 1/2-inch by 3 1/2-inch rectangle. Write your message on the rectangle.

    • 7

Open the card and place the rectangle on the inside of the card, to the right of the fold line. Center it so that the printed card stock creates a border around it. Affix it with a glue stick.

    Silk Flower Card

    • 8

Select a piece of card stock in the color of your choice. Cut it to 8 by 6 inches, and fold it in half for a 4- by 6-inch greeting card.

    • 9

Select a 4-inch strip of ribbon, approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. Affix it to the front of the card, about 1 1/2 inches from the bottom, with a glue stick. Use a ruler to make sure it is straight.

    • 10

Tie another piece of ribbon into a small bow. Use a hot glue gun to affix it to the ribbon strip on the front of the card, about 1 inch from the right edge.

    • 11

Cut the individual petals off of a silk flower, such as a daisy or a rose.

    • 12

Arrange a circle of the silk flower petals on the card in the space above the ribbon. Use the largest petals first. Make sure the cut or plucked edge is facing inward towards the center of the circle. Use a dab of hot glue at the inner edge of each petal to affix it to the card.

    • 13

Arrange a second layer of smaller flower petals in a circle on top of the first. Fix them so the outer tips of the second row of flowers fall in the spaces between the first row of flowers. Hot glue them at the cut end to the card.

    • 14

Hot glue a flat bottom craft gem into the center of the flower, covering the edges of the petals. If you like, you can hot glue a few more gems along side the flower, or place three in a row on the strip of ribbon.

    • 15

Write your greeting with a marker below the ribbon, such as, "May Allah bless you." Open the card and write your message inside.
