How to Connect Cables to a TV From a Comcast Box
Comcast Cable provides a receiver box for subscribers to receive unscrambled television programming. The box connects with the main cable entering the building by means of a coaxial cable, with several options for connecting to a television, depending on the type of TV. The type of connection can affect the quality of the video image, from standard definition signals with a coaxial or S-video cable to high definition programming.
Things You'll Need

1
Check the back of the television to determine the best connection. On modern, high-definition sets, there is an HDMI (high definition media interface) jack shaped like a trapezoid. This connection will provide the best picture and sound. A coaxial cable jack or S-video jack will be found on older sets, especially tube-type televisions.

2
Connect an HDMI cable by inserting the plug on the end of the cable straight into the jack on the back of the television and to the back of the Comcast receiver. The cable only inserts one way, so be careful not to force the plug if it is accidentally upside-down..

Use an S-video cable to hook-up standard-definition televisions. The S-video cable has a round plug on each end with two rows of metal pins inside. Connect this plug by matching up the pins with the holes in the jack on the back of the television and Comcast box. The S-video cable can only be inserted in one direction, so take care not to force the plug and run the risk of breaking off the pins.

Connect an older television to a Comcast box with a coaxial cable. This type of cable has a single steel pin inside the plug that fits into the Output jack on the back of the cable box and the Input jack on the back of the TV. Secure the connection by turning the threaded coupler clockwise on each end of the cable.
