Instructions

    • 1

Wash and dry a sock that will be used as your hot pack holder. An adult size sock will work best. Use a sock that features snowmen, snowflakes, Santa or red and green colors to reflect the Christmas spirit.

    • 2

Fill the sock with uncooked, white, long grain rice. Avoid stuffing the sock all the way. Leave four inches of space at the top of the sock to allow the rice to move around.

    • 3

Add three drops of a pure essential oil, like lavender or a pinch of dried herbs, like chamomile, to the rice inside the sock for aromatherapy, pleasant scents and added relaxation.

    • 4

Tie a decorative string, ribbon or yarn around the open end of the sock.

    • 5

Write instructions for heating the hot pack on a piece of paper and include this with the gift. Write "heat in microwave for one to two minutes."

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid using instant or quick-cook rice, because it can cause a fire in your microwave.
